Rev. Springfield and Rev. Cox officiated. Burial was made in Leonard Cemetery under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Homer Bench, Richard Thornton, Vernon Compton, Rueben Owens, Odell Thornton, and Bruce Young. Mr. Courtney, a resident of the Hickory Creek community had been ill for several months before he passed away at the Veterans Hospital at Bonham on Tuesday, October 13, 1959. He was born March 23, 1894 at Alba, Texas, son of Jess Courtney and Nancy Fowler Courtney. On June 3, 1922, he married Miss Jewel Medley and she survives. Survivors besides his wife of Hickory Creek are three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Barron of Coleman, Oklahoma; Mrs. Anna Cook of Mountain View, Oklahoma; Mrs. Martha Holmes of Snyder, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. ********************************************************* USGENWEB ARCHIVES NOTICE: Copyright.
