Graveside services are at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 31, 2003, at Memoryland Memorial Park under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Bob Layman will officiate. Born on November 30, 1911, in Hunt County, she was the daughter of William Franklin Hopewell and Irene Webster Hopewell. She was married to Ira Charles Cotten on December 12, 1942, in Houston. Mrs. Cotten was a teacher, retiring from the Garland Independent School District. She was a Baptist and was a member of Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, and was a home demonstration agent in Goliad and Jack counties. Surviving are a brother, Preston Hopewell; several nieces and nephews, and special friend Hugh Rowen. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Irene Patterson and Kathleen Hopewell; and three brothers, Wilber T. Hopewell, Wade F. Hopewell, and Robert E. Hopewell. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at the funeral home. (December 30, 2003, The Greenville Herald Banner)
