Ernest Denney, 89, a teacher, of Waco, died Friday, October 5, 1990, at a local hospital. Services were at 11:30 AM, Monday, October 8, 1990, at Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. John A. Wood officiating. Burial was at Eddy Cemetery. Mrs. Denny was born on August 26, 1901, in Celeste, where she attended school. She was a graduate of Burleson College in Greenville, received bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas Women's University, and did graduate work at the University of Texas in Austin. She was married to A. Ernest Denney in 1956; he died in 1976. Mrs. Denney taught school in Celeste* from 1920 to 1924, Childress, North Dallas, and Waco. She was retired from the Baylor University English Department in 1971. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Anita Brewer of Greenville; a brother, Harold Armstrong of Celeste; and several nieces and nephews.
