All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** From the files of June Tuck EDMONDS, WILLIAM B., CAPTAIN - (Greenville Banner) - Died February 2, 1908, at his home near Dixon. He was born at Farmview, Fauquier County, Virginia, March 22, 1832. When the civil war broke out he entered the 38th Virginia Regiment commanded by his brother, Colonel E.C. Edmonds, in Pickett's Division and saw some of the hardest fighting of the war. It was Pickett who made the final charge at Gettysburg. On January 9, 1863, he was married to Miss Alice L. Hill at Orange County, Virginia. They came to Texas in 1872, settling in Lamar County, and came to Hunt County 25 years since. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. A. S. Harrison, J. R. Edmonds, Quitman; W. B. Edmonds, Cumby; Mrs. George Oneal, McKinney; N. C. Edmonds, Mt. Pleasant; Y. C. Edmonds, Texarkana; Mrs. J. R. Fields, W. G. and J. G. Edmonds of this city, and Mrs. Dr. Webb, Neola. His brother, Col. J. C. Edmonds, was buried here just a year ago. He was a member of the Christian Church. Buried East Mount Cemetery.
