Flournoy, 84, of Dallas, an early resident of Celeste, died on October 26, 1978, in a Houston hospital. Burial was in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. He was born on April 7, 1894, in Ryan, Oklahoma. He was reared by his paternal grandmother, his mother having died at the time of his birth. Flournoy married Fannie Mitchell of Celeste. They lived in Celeste, Greenville, and Corpus Christ. For the last thirty years, their home has been in Dallas. As a young man, he came to Ladonia then later to Celeste as a cotton buyer. For the remainder of his active years, he was with a Dallas firm dealing in cotton. He attended schools at Elk City, Oklahoma High school, and a Catholic school there. Survivors include his wife, Fannie; a son, Samuel C. Flournoy, Jr., of Houston; and four grandchildren. A daughter, Frances, preceded him in death.
