Franklin died at his home on North Saint John Street at 5:00 AM, January 13, 1910, from pneumonia. Mr. Franklin was born in Alabama near Birmingham in 1854 and was brought to Texas when but a child. His father was one of the pioneers of North Texas and settled on the Franklin farm, six miles from Farmersville, where the deceased was reared to manhood. In 1889, he married Miss Ada Croft at Celeste, who was a sister of Mrs. Mock, mother of H. B. Mock. Mr. Franklin was in business a while in Mineral Wells, and afterward at Ardmore, Oklahoma, moving from there to Leonard, where he engaged in business until some ten years ago when on account of poor health he bought a farm near the McWright Cemetery. A month ago Mr. Franklin moved to this city. About the first of January, he was taken with the grippe, which developed into pneumonia from which he died. His wife and a son, Bryon, eighteen years old, survive him. Also, surviving are two sisters and four brothers, J. B. Franklin of Dallas, W. J. Franklin of Durant, Oklahoma, Joe Franklin of Dike, Ben Franklin of Llano County, Mrs. Todd of San Francisco, California, and Mrs. Burgess of New Mexico and other relatives to mourn his death. He was a member of the Masons and the Woodmen of the World. The Kellogg camp performed the last sad rites. The family have the sympathy of their large circle of friends.
