Wendell Phillip Fudgen, 82, of 1212 Sayle, are set for 1:30 PM, Saturday, July 20, 1985, at Clark Saint Christian Church. He died Tuesday morning, July 16, 1985, at his home. Rev. David Shelton will officiate. Burial will be in Grundy Memorial Park. He was born June 30, 1903, in Greenville to James Fudgen and Nannie Haley Fudgen. He was married to Carrie L. Moore in 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The retired school teacher and minister was a member of Clark Saint Christian Church. He was a teacher in the Greenville Independent School District for thirty-nine years, including twenty-three as principal of Douglas Elementary School. He served as pastor of True Vine Christian Church in Paris, White Oak Christian Church in Omaha, and Center Point Christian Church in Greenville. Rev. Fudgen was a member of the NAACP and the Ministerial Alliance, and was president of the citywide musical association and District I of the Texas Christian Missionary Fellowship. Survivors include his wife, of Greenville; two sons, Dr. Wendell Phillip Fudgen, Jr., of San Francisco and George W. Fudgen of Greenville; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Delores Campbell of Dallas; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers will be elders and deacons of Clark Saint Christian Church. Cozine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
