All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Mrs. Veta Burns Haley Mrs. Veta Burns Haley, 53, of Sherman, a former Leonard resident, died in Chapel of Care in Sherman, Thursday, June 8, 1967, after an extended illness. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Dewey Avenue Church of Christ in Sherman with the minister, MR. Groom and Connie Hollis of Leonard, officiating. Burial was in Leonard Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews. Mrs. Haley was born on February 25, 1914, at Greenville, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Burns. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors are her husband, Mack Haley, of Sherman; two sons, Dean Haley of Irving and Larry Max Haley of Fort Knox, Kentucky, with the National Guard; a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Smith of Irving; five sisters, Mrs. E. L. Jackson and Mrs. Ernest Marshall, both of Leonard; Mrs. Nannie Newman of Kingston, Mrs. M. P. Smith of Spur, and Mrs. Beulah Freeman of Dallas; three brothers, Amos Burns of Leonard, W. H. Burns of Greenville, and Roy Burns of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren. (June 16, 1967, The Celeste Courier)
