She had been visiting in Arkansas for some time. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Monday afternoon at the First Baptist Church, Celeste, with the pastor, the Rev. A. W. Cunningham in charge. Burial was made in the Dulaney Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harbert Byers, Lem Warren, Tom Sparks, Howard Roach, Bert McCraw, and George Pierce. Mrs. Henderson was born in Arkansas on July 16, 1869. She came to Hunt County when a young woman, soon after her marriage to the late Jim Henderson. She had lived near Celeste and Greenville since coming to Texas and was prominently identified with the activities of the Celeste Baptist Church until ill health intervened. She was the daughter of the late Will Byers and Elizabeth Byers. Survivors include two brothers, James Y. Byers and Andrew Cleveland Byers of Stuttgart, Arkansas; one sister, Mrs. Jim Reeves, Stuttgart, and a number of other relatives. Her husband passed away about twenty-seven years ago and four children also preceded her in death. (March 14, 1952, The Celeste Courier) (Mrs. Mary Ida Byers Henderson visited her relative, Alice McDonald Roach in her home. Theda Giles Roach was just married and made some tuna fish salad. Later, Ida exclaimed, "Theda made the best salmon casserole!" Mother was a good cook and she could make tuna into salmon and nothing into a feast. The story was told to me by Wilma McCraw Cunningham in about 2000 and 2002. Sarah Roach Swindell)
