All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Mrs. Fanny Lou Manning Horton Mrs. John Hilton Horton died at 6:45 PM, Monday, June 26, 1967, in the Baptist Memorial Hospital in San Antonio, where she had been ill for the past seven months. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 29, 1967, at Crestview Christian Church in Greenville. Dr. James Sandlin officiated and burial was in Forest Park Cemetery, Greenville. Sorrells and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Fanny Lou Manning was born June 12, 1909, in Leonard. She was the daughter of Lon Manning and Fanny Belle Barnes Manning. At the time of her illness, she was a member of the faculty of the San Antonio Public Schools. She received her degree from A&I College in Kingsville and attended Texas Women's University and North Texas State University at Denton. Mrs. Horton was a member of Highlands Christian Church in San Antonio. She was married to John Hilton Horton on December 20, 1929. Surviving are her husband, who is Texas Department of Public Safety supervisor of a state broadcasting station in San Antonio; one son, Jack Horton of the US Navy at San Diego, California; one brother, Bill Manning of Dallas; and one sister, Mrs. Jim Chervenka of Houston. She was the daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Horton and a sister-in-law of Mrs. W. T. George and Mrs. Bruce Irwin of Greenville. Her parents preceded her in death. Pallbearers were W. T. George, Bruce Irwin, Bill Irwin, Ernest Warren, Vernon Glossup, and William Little. Mrs. Horton was a niece of Ray Manning and Paul Manning of Leonard, and Mrs. Claude Meador of Whitewright.
