Parr's sister, Mrs. Hazel Jones of Leonard, shares the article with readers: Dear Editor: Seldom does an individual become the "very best" at a given task or accomplishment. When they do become the "very best," they are usually well- known individuals and lauded as the best with much publicity. It is seldom that we know these individual personally. We read about them and see them on television. When an individual is such he should be honored. There are millions of people in the world and to know an individual that is the "very best" is a little mind boggling. Many of you knew Jimmy Parr, but did you know that he was the very best retail lumberman in the world? If there were a Super Bowl for lumbermen, Jimmy would have won, "hands down" for many years. It was often said that he had a computer for a brain and he could figure a house pattern and not leave out a nail. Jimmy started working in the Lufkin retail yard for Arthur Temple, Jr., thirty-nine years ago. He had more fun working than anyone I have ever known. He would recall incidents form the past, but always looked to the future. Everyone who knew Jimmy will miss him dearly, but it is comforting to me and should be for you and his family, that we have know the "very best."
