He was a retired farmer, merchant, and life-long resident of Celeste. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 7, 1962, at Celeste Methodist Church with the pastor, Rev. Albert Click, officiating and Rev. C. B. Garrett of Greenville assisting. Burial was in Merit Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hubert Shields, S. W. Myers, Houston Furr, T. B. Weatherley, Elmo Duncan, and Ellis Sumrow. Mr. Gibson was born July 12, 1888 in Hunt County. His parents were Thomas Gibson and Lorenda Cantrell Gibson. He was married to Bessie Gibson and she preceded him in death in April 1941. In 1942, he was married to Mrs. Ida McGuire Puckett. At the time of his death, he held membership in the Celeste Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; one son, Cloyd Gibson of Greenville; two daughters, Mrs. Oma Leinart of Wagner and Mrs. Catherine Sumrow of Garland; one brother, Burton Gibson of Greenville; one sister, Mrs. Garvin Doan of Celeste; and seven grandchildren, including Joann Gibson and Rickey Gibson of Celeste.
