All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** ALBERTA EVELYN JOHNSON Alberta Evelyn Johnson, 65, of Newton, died on August 26, 1978, at 10:30 AM, in the Newton County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were Monday at Coker-Mathews-Peters Chapel in Greenville with Father Don Thomas officiating. Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery at Wolfe City. Pallbearers were Charles Dwain Stone, Douglas Johnson, Richard Johnson, Jim Gilbert, Ron Owen, and Gene Ketcham. Miss Johnson was born on February 4, 1913, in Detroit to DeLone and Kansas Morrow Johnson. An Army veteran of WW II, she was retired after forty-eight years as a registered nurse. She was a Catholic. Miss Johnson was graduated from Celeste High School in 1930. Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Hubert Fleming and Mrs. Gene Ketcham, both of Dallas, Mrs. Tom Owen of Richardson, and Mrs. W. T. Connatser of Newton; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Pansy Cameron of Greenville; also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother. Attending the services from Celeste were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lacy, Mrs. Dora Taylor, Mrs. Lem Warren, Mrs. Mildred Roach, Mrs. Willie Cawthon, and Mrs. Garland Roach of Greenville.
