JONES, SUSAN R., MRS. - (Greenville Banner paper) - Died at 12:30 last night
after a lengthy illness of pneumonia. Susan Rebecca Baughtry (sic) was born in
McNair County, Tennessee, Feb. 19, 1837, which would maker her age 71 years the
19th of this month. Came to Texas when 9 years old and lived in Hopkins County.
She was married to Mr. T. H. Jones of Lone Oak in 1855. Her husband was a
Confederate soldier, serving with credit during that great conflict while his
wife, like so many thousands of others, waited and watched at home until at the
close of the war her loved one returned. The deceased was a member of the
Christian church. She had lived in Greenville for the past 27 years. She leaves
the following children: T. G., Jess, and Will Jones, living here; Ed Jones,
Memphis, Texas; Mrs Frank Hyde, Mrs. Jim McBride, and Mrs Jess Parish, all of
this city. The funeral was from the house, conducted by Rev. W.T.Hilton and Rev.
W.E. Graham and burial in East Mount cemetery. (S.S. Gazette, Fri., Feb. 14,
