(Bill) Longino, 87, of Greenville and formerly of Celeste, died the afternoon of July 8, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2:30 PM, Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Goodwin officiating. A private burial is planned. Son of Professor William Longino and Lucille Atkinson Longino, he was born on November 21, 1916, in Huntsville. On December 18, 1944, he was married to Jean Downing in Dallas. He served in the Air Transport Command of the US Army. Mr. Longino flew the DC-2, DC-3, DC-4, DC-6, DC-7, Convair, Constellation, Electra, 707, and the 747 for Braniff Airlines from 1940 to 1976. He was retired with an estimated 10,800,000 miles, more than 36,000 hours and as Number One on the Braniff seniority list. He was a member of the Kavanaugh United Methodist Church, Braniff Silver Eagles, and the OX-5. Surviving are his wife of Greenville; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Longino and his wife Nancy Longino and Thomas Longino and his wife Deborah Longino, all of Celeste; three grandchildren, Jessica Longino, Billy Longino, and Thomas Longino, all of Celeste. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ruth Kock and Winifred Springfield. Memorials may be made to Operation Kindness, 3201 Earhart Drive, Carrollton, Texas 75006 (972-418-PAWS).
