R. Marshall Died in Greenville; Services in Celeste Mrs. O. R. Marshall, 76, resident of Celeste for fifty years, passed away Sunday, January 28, 1962, in a Greenville nursing home. She had been ill for several months. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 PM in the First Baptist Church in Celeste. The pastor, Rev. H. B. Gideon and Rev. Albert Click, pastor of First Methodist Church, Celeste, officiated. Burial was made in the Merit Cemetery. Pallbearers were B. L. Nabors of Garland, H. G. Byers, Rex Denny, J. A. Pierce, Elmo Duncan, and Donnie Duncan, all of Celeste. Mrs. Marshall had been living in Garland the past several months. She was born August 17, 1886, in Hillsboro. Her parents were John Taylor Aven and Sophia McGuire Aven. She married O. R. Marshall at Colgate, Oklahoma in 1905. He preceded her in death in November, 1952. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. O. D. Stringer of Garland; two granddaughters, Mrs. Truman Price of Richardson and Mrs. Harry Liedike of Nacogdoches; one brother, John H. Aven of Lufkin, and three great- grandchildren. (February 2, 1962, The Celeste Courier) A Friend In the passing of our good friend, Mrs. O. R. Marshall, the town has lost a good Christian citizen. We had the pleasure to enjoy the warm friendship of Mrs. Marshall for forty-nine years. She was kind and nice to everyone. She will be missed greatly. Mrs. A. F.
