All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Mrs. Howard Nix Mrs. Howard Nix, 62, who had lived in and around Celeste all her life, died at 3:45 PM Thursday, April 27, 1967, in a Greenville hospital. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 29, 1967, at the Celeste Church of Christ with Mr. Connie Hollis and Mr. Herman Sargent officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville. Mrs. Nix was born on December 20, 1904, in Celeste, the daughter of J. S. Mitchell and Mary Mitchell. She was a member of the Celeste Church of Christ. She was married to Howard Nix on June 19, 1919, in Celeste and he survives. The family will be at 4045 Western Circle in Greenville and the body will lie in state at Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Home until 10:00 AM Saturday, when it will be moved to the family home in Celeste. Surviving are the husband of Celeste; two sons, J. H. Nix, Jr., of Greenville, and Hoyt Nix of Lubbock; a daughter, Mrs. Leta Kay Glasscock of Greenville; a brother, Otis Mitchell of Irving; three sisters, Mr. L. O. Lee, Mrs. W. A. Powell, and Mrs. May Stair, all of Greenville; and six grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death. (April 18, 1967, The Celeste Courier)
