All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** James Irvin Perkins Funeral services for James Irvin Perkins, 86, were held Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Home in Greenville. Dr. Harrison Baker of Dallas and the Rev. Albert Click of Celeste Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery with Masonic services. Casketbearers were H. S. Byers, Hubert Shields, Earnest Berry, S. M. Compton, Phil Perkins, and Arthur Green. Mr. Perkins died at 9:00 PM Sunday, December 3, 1961, following an illness of several years. He was born on October 13, 1875, in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of Mack Perkins and Georgia Beard Perkins. He came to the Celeste area in 1905 and had resided here since that time. He was married to Miss Ida Morris on January 8, 1903, in Tennessee. A member of the Celeste Methodist Church, Mr. Perkins was also a member of the Miller Masonic Lodge # 224. Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Nell Irvin, Freeport; one son, James Morris Perkins of Dallas; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Meek, Kennett, Missouri and Mrs. Elva Baker of Savannah, Tennessee; three brothers, Doss Perkins, Sulphur Springs, G. E. Perkins, Corinth, Mississippi, and Ive Perkins, Memphis, Tennessee. (December 6, 1961, The Celeste Courier)
