Albert Click, officiating. Burial was in the Lane Cemetery. Mrs. Rawls, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, moved to the Lane community in 1910, coming to Celeste shortly after. She was a devout member of the Methodist Church since childhood, and a member of the Celeste Methodist Church. Failing health in recent years was the cause of her giving up her home here. She was cared for in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Rogers, of Dallas. Pallbearers were Albert Granberry, Jacque Bickham, Jack Ruff, Herman Compton, Hubert Shields, and Lem Warren. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Rogers, Dallas; Mrs. Etta Mitchell, Odessa; Mrs. Ruth Ross, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and a son, Johnny Parmer, Stocklam, California. Also, thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren survive. Two nieces, Mrs. Lizzy Easley Glasscock, Celeste, and Mrs. Eva Andrews Morgan, Greenville, and a nephew, John Bearden, Celeste, survive. (June 9, 1967, The Celeste Courier) Five Generations Photo Made Before Mrs. Rawl's Death Mrs. Mary A. Rawls passed away on Sunday, June 4, 1967 at 5:50 PM. She was buried at Lane Cemetery on June 7, 1967, after services were held at the First Methodist Church in Celeste. Mrs. Rawls loved her home in Celeste, but August of 1963, her health would no longer permit her to keep house; so, she moved to Dallas to live with her eldest daughter, Myrtle A. Rogers. During these four years, she would go to Oklahoma City to spend time with her youngest daughter, Mrs. E. L. Ross, to enjoy her four grandsons. On December 31, 1966, she suffered a stroke and was confined to a wheelchair, but her strength was returning. On Sunday, she was waiting for a photographer to come to take a five generation picture, but she complained of being tired; so, a small camera was used to take pictures of Mrs. Rawls, Myrtle A. Rogers, James C. Rogers, Mrs. Samuel Dandridge and Steven, age five weeks. Mrs. Rawls passed away ten minutes after the pictures were taken. Mrs. Rawls returned to her "heaven one earth," Celeste, as she always planned to do. (June 9, 1967, The Celeste Courier)
