All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Jefferson Vincent Thompson Funeral services were for Jefferson Vincent Thompson, 57, of 2129 North Riverside Drive, Fort Worth, who passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 1963. Funeral services for the former Celeste resident and 1924 Celeste High School graduate were held at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Lucas Chapel, Fort Worth. Survivors include his wife; son, James Thompson; daughters, Miss Judith Thompson, Mrs. Susan Bedford; sister, Mrs. R. S. Huffaker; and two grandchildren. (August 30, 1963, The Celeste Courier) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jefferson Vincent Thompson Jefferson Vincent Thompson died suddenly of a coronary attack in Fort Worth on August 27, 1963. He was born on February 23, 1906, in Celeste. Mr. Thompson was reared in Celeste and was educated in the Celeste schools and Burleson College of Greenville and was at one time a teacher in the Crescent community near Celeste. Later, he entered the newspaper field and was associated with The Leonard Graphic and The Wellington Leader before connecting with the US Post Office at Fort Worth, which position he held many years, and where he was employed at the time of his death. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Thompson, both deceased, were Celeste residents for many years. A brother, J. W. Thompson, preceded him in death in 1958, at his home in Dallas. Survivors include his wife, Pearl Thompson; a son, James Thompson; two daughters, Judith Thompson and Mrs. Gary Bedford, all of Forth Worth; a sister, Mrs. R. S. Huffaker of Bryan, Texas; two grandchildren; as well as many other beloved relatives and friends, many of them in Celeste and Leonard communities, who mourn his passing. Funeral services were held on August 29, 1963, at 2:00 PM at the Lucas Funeral Home of Fort Worth and conducted by the Rev. Boyd, pastor of Springdale Baptist Church of which Mr. Thompson was a member. Mr. Thompson was also a member in good standing of the Masonic Lodge at Wellington, Texas, where he had kept his membership for many years. (September 6, 1963, The Celeste Courier)
