Joe L. Turnage
    Funeral services for Joe. L. Turnage, 85, father of Mrs. Glenn Watson of
Celeste, were pending with Gray-Sorrells and Sons Funeral Home in Greenville at
press time today.
    Mr. Turnage died Tuesday, September 6, 1960, at a Greenville rest home.
    He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Turnage of Kingston, North Carolina, one
daughter, Mrs.. Glenn Watson of Celeste; three sons, Robert Turnage of Norfolk,
Virginia; Paul Turnage and Jimmy Turnage in Florida; one sister, Mrs. Will
Hoover, Kingston, North Carolina; three grandchildren.
    Mr. Turnage was born September 4, 1885, in Kingston, North Carolina, where
he spent most of his life.  He lived in recent years in Greenville and Celeste,
where he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Glenn Watson.
    He was retired and had been in construction work most of his life.  His
wife preceded him in death twenty years ago.
