All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** John Ellis Turner John Ellis Turner, 54, of Abernathy, died in a Greenville hospital at 11:10 PM, Monday, January 9, 1967. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 11, 1967, in the Celeste Methodist Church. Officiating were the Rev. H. B. Coggin of Dallas and the Rev. Conrad Ryan of Abernathy. Burial as made in the Celeste Cemetery. Mr. Turner was born on April 13, 1912, in Celeste, the son of Frank Turner and Nannie Moore Turner. He was married to Lou Jackson on October 27,1939. Mr. Turner lived the past fourteen years in Abernathy and lived in Roswell, New Mexico, and Lubbock. He spent his young life in Hunt County. A member of the First Methodist Church of Abernathy, Mr. Turner served as manager of the Abernathy Gin Company. Survivors include his widow of Abernathy; one son, Terry Turner, a student at Texas Technological College; three brothers, Dan Tatum of Paris, Virge Tatum of Celeste, and W. H. Tatum of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Mrs. Harold Armstrong of Celeste and Mrs. J. F. Fielder of Tyler; several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Nephews served as pallbearers.
