VIE, JOHN W. - Died at his home near Campbell after about ten day illness from
pneumonia. He was one of Hunt's best citizens, and he had many friends in
Cumby. He was about 70 years of age, a Confederate veteran having served in
the army of Northern Virginia in Pickett's Brigade and was in the celebrated
charge of Pickett's men at Gettysburg when they went up Cemetery Ridge on July
3, 1863. He leaves a large family. (Cumby Rustler, Fri., Jan. 15, 1909)
