Wooten of Greenville were honored on their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a reception by their children held in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lucy Luttrell, Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Wooten was the former Osce Ola Lacks, daughter of T. T. and Lucy Lacks and was reared in and near Celeste. They were married on April 15, 1917, in the home of the officiating minister, Rev. Sam Jones. They are the parents of seven children, seventeen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, all of whom were present except two grandsons, Joe Luttrell of the US Navy and Mike Currin who attends Texas Tech. The children, Earl Wooten, Stella Ray, Lucy Luttrell, Ruth Currin, Martha Campbell, all of Greenville, and Winona Foley of Garland, were in the receiving line with the parents. The granddaughters, Judy Luttrell and Paula Nell Campbell, had charge of the gift table and the registration. The lovely three-tiered cake was served with frosted punch or coffee by the daughters-in-law, Verne and Helen Wooten, and a granddaughter, LaVerne Brown. A host of relatives and friends were present or sent their congratulations and best wishes to the couple. (April 21, 1967, The Celeste Courier)
