All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************** Couple Mark Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Charles Luna In celebration of their fiftieth wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Luna will be honored by their children with a reception from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 25, 1979, at Lake Wood Country Club, Gaston and La Vista, in Dallas. The former Opal Lewis and Charles Luna, both Celeste High School graduates, were married on November 29, 1929 in Cooper. Their two children are Mrs. Larry (Sharlie Ann Luna) Guthrie of Waco and Dan Lewis Luna of Bedford. Grandchildren are Allison Guthrie and Merrill Guthrie of Waco and Danny Luna of Bedford. The Lunas spend their time between their home at 6826 Vivian in Dallas and an apartment at 1009 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, Virginia, where he is active on the board of directors of Amtrak. Luna is the only charter member of the Amtrak board still serving in that capacity. He is retired as President Emeritus of the United Transportation Union where he was the first elected president after serving as the last president of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen prior to the consolidation of the four big railroad unions under his leadership. Luna's railroad career began in May of 1925 with the Santa Fe Railroad and progressed through more than fifty years with the B of RT and UTU. He is also a fifty year Mason with the Tannehill Blue Lodge in Dallas. All friends are invited to attend the celebration. (November 16, 1979, The Celeste Courier)
