All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************************** The Jacksboro Gazette was established in Springdale in 1880 as the Rural Citizen, the newspaper was moved to Jacksboro and changed names to the Jacksboro Gazette in 1889. The Jacksboro News was established in 1895. In 1919, the Jacksboro Gazette and the Jacksboro News were consolidated. The Jacksboro Gazette News is the oldest business institution in Jack County. Obituaries and wedding announcements were considered ads in the early Jacksboro newspapers. Ad rates for obituaries and weddings was .01 cents per word with a minimum 100 words.
