He confirmed all the wild reports that the papers have given except the killing, which he says is greatly exaggerated. The new building of the First Baptist church at Fort Worth of which Dr. J. Morgan Wells is pastor, is a handsome structure and one that would be a credit to any city in the South. The beautiful corner stone was taken from the Jacksboro quarries. J.W. Black of Post Oak Garrett Mays of Indian Territory and J.H. Randel of Galveston. M.G. Ellison of Carrolls Creek. T. Mountcastle, one of Jacksboro’s old citizens, but now of Mineral Wells. M.L. Sikes of Christian Mrs. E.W. Nicholson opened a millinery establishment over J.W. Aynes & Co. The Alliance Store will open in the house vacated by M.V. Phipps. West Keechi Valley We have an interesting Sunday school, W.V. Allen superintendent, Miss Lucy Williamson, secretary. Prof. Teague has a good choir organized, if you want to hear sweet music come to the Brown school house. Jolly Farmer Bryson Elder H.W. Beville has done the greatest preaching for a revival we have ever had. Forty-three additions up to last night and the meeting is still going. Mamaduke Talk of Jacksboro getting a railroad is a bright prospect. Haley Grass is fine. Educational Department Editor: T.B. King, County Superintendent Associate Editors: Mrs. Lottie Hatfield, F.R. Aston, J.K. Wester, L.C. Thomas Miss Emma Harman is teaching out the unexpired term at Center Point. Prof. Berry of Oak Glen district has closed his school and is now engaged with T.D. Jones in measuring off Jack County land. Miss Elsie Aynes is teaching a private school at Rockland Chapel after having taught the public school at that place. Prof. L.C. Thomas is on a jaunt to Dallas and Hill county and let the Educational Department to take care of itself. Prof. Thomas is somewhat excusable as we understand that he “has a failing” in the direction of Hill county. Miss Eleanor Marks opened school at Union Point the 22nd inst. Miss Marks taught the school last yerar and gave such satisfaction that the trustees held the school over for her until she had closed her term near Groveland.
