McRoberts of Post Oak. Dr. Burton is having his windmill repaired by Mr. Roland of Sycamore. It is with deep regret that we tell of the death of J.T. Gahagan which occurred Saturday. Mr. Gahagan had been sick a short time before his death, which was the result of that dreaded disease, typhoid fever. He had been unconscious since the previous Sunday and during this time little hopes of his recovery was entertained. He was a good man and held the highest esteem of all who knew him. He leaves seven sons and daughters, the youngest of whom is a daughter, 15 years of age. Sunday, the remains were followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives to the Wesley chapel cemetery and placed beside the beloved wife who preceded him to the great beyond several years ago. Bentley and Earl Newsome of Bryson. Mrs. Sowell returned home with her daughter, Mrs. J.R. Rich from West Texas. A. Schnider of Cundiff was in town with a load of fine apples for sale. Mr. Schneider is Jack Countys successful fruit grower, having for many years grown some of the finest grapes anywhere in this section. Mr. And Mrs. R.D. Richardson of Alvarado visited Mr. And Mrs. John W. Carter of Jermyn and Mr. And Mrs. M.J. Davis of Jacksboro. Mr. Richardson was a resident of Jack County during the Indian days and can tell many thrilling incidents of those times. He is the man for whom old Fort Richardson was named when built just after the Civil War. [Transcribers note: According to federal records - Fort Richardson was named in honor of General Israel B. Richardson, who died in the battle of Antietam during the Civil War. The fort was established in 1867.]
