Hughes had passed away Tuesday. Mr. Hughes was in ill health. He was taken ill and died in about an hour. His death was a surprise and shock to his many friends all over town and Jack County where he was well known, having been a county surveyor for a number of years. He was a member of the Methodist church and a Mason and an old Confederate. He leaves his wife and five daughters, Mrs. Will Haraughty of New Mexico, Mrs. C.M. Whipp of Tahoka, Mrs. J.K. Wester of Lubbock, Mrs. C.E. Patton of Menard, Miss Lettie Hughes.
