All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************************** The Gertrude Townsite has been laid off in "Lost Valley," Jack County, is well and beautifully located on a high, well drained, and smooth point of valley land, overlooking Cameron Creek, 16 miles from Jacksboro, and 12 miles from railroad. Abundant supply of fine artesian water at a depth of 130 feet. Large quantities of timber for cheap fuel, etc., within one-half mile, also good coal within one mile, at a depth of from 10 to 40 feet; old established post office, with mail and passenger service to and from railroad, also good telephone system in two directions. Abundance of building stone near by, fine school building, used for church also, with good enrollment, and large district with special tax. Commodious storehouse now in course of erection, for large stock of general merchandise. Also good blacksmith shop. Townsite embraces 75 acres, consisting of 25 blocks, 300 by 320 feet in size, with 20 foot alleys in between, and 60 and 80 foot streets.
