All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm **************************************************************************** The Jacksboro Gazette News Tuesday, April 4, 2006 Connie Guinn Johnson Tuesday, April 04, 2006 Editor Connie Guinn Johnson, 77, of Iowa Park passed away Sunday, March 26, 2006, after a prolonged battle with cancer. Memorial services were Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel in Iowa Park with Chaplain Terri Perkins officiating. Burial followed at Perrin Cemetery. Mr. Johnson was born May 16, 1928, in Perrin to James L. and Lois Johnson. He and Mary F. Stanley were married June 30, 1951 in Laupahoehoe, Hawaii. Connie graduated from Perrin High School in 1946, where he was on several state champion teams in basketball and baseball. He attended John Tarleton University and had a short career in minor league baseball prior to joining the Air Force in 1947. He served for 23 years as a cryptographer and later as a crypto instructor. His tours included stints in Hawaii, Iceland, Japan, Germany, Thailand and multiple postings in the U.S. He managed a bowling alley during his ÒspareÓ time and was highly active in leagues. After retirement from the military, he sold life insurance for years and won multiple national sales awards. He later worked for BoydÕs Business Machines. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters Dr. Guin Johnson and husband L.R. Milligan of Oklahoma City, and Brenda L. Waggoner and husband Lark and Wendy G. Hartman and husband Randy, all of Iowa Park; a sister, Ann Bunch of Grand Prairie; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Louie E. Johnson and sister Margaret Jean Richardson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
