All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************************* The Jacksboro Gazette Thursday, November 2, 1899 Killed by a Frightened Horse Charley Kyle a young man about 14 years old, who has been staying with Tom Nash at Keechi, was thrown from a horse and killed on Monday. It seems that he had harnessed the horse to go after a plow and some 400 yards from the house, the horse began pitching throwing young Kyle off and entangling his feet. The horse being frightened began to run but soon stopped, when a dog ran up barking, started him again and it was not until after he had reached the house, jumping over three stone fences and dragging the boy after him that checked his speed. The horse was seen from the house and the family hurried to the young manŐs assistance only find him dead and badly mangled.
