Vandeveer whose illness is noticed this paper, died at his room at McConnellÕs Drug Store Thursday from disease of the kidneys. Mr. Vandeveer came to Texas from Missouri in 1876, and for several years was in the employ of James S. Harris, at his sheep ranch. For the past few months he has been staying with McConnell, and during that time made many friends. He was a man of varied experiences and much information, and was a lifelong consistent member of the Baptist church, and was connected with the church at Jacksboro. Although dying far from home and relatives, his last hours were soothed by kind friends. His funeral from the Presbyterian church, Rev. Jackson, his pastor, conducting the services.
