Stramer died at his residence in Jacksboro on Saturday last, after a protracted illness, he having been a sufferer from consumption for the past two years. Mr. Stamer was born in Washington City in 1845, and came to Texas as a member of the 6th U.S. Cavalry at the close of the [Civil] War. He was discharged from the service in 1870, and has been a resident of Jack County ever since. He had a host of friends and his wife [Sarah] and children have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement. He was buried by the Knights of Honor of which he was a member, on Sunday, and a large concourse of citizens turned out to pay their last respects to the deceased. At a meeting of Jacksboro Lodge 3192 Knights of Honor, held at their hall in Jacksboro 16 May 1893.
