Chanek Sr. Funeral services for Frank M. Chanek Sr., 85, of Ganado were held Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado with the Rev. Joseph Hybner officiating. interment followed at Shillerville Cemetery in Victoria County under the direction of Ganado Funeral Home. Mr. Chanek died Jan. 24. Born July 25, 1916, in Goliad to the late Joseph and Julia Krivacka Chanek, he was a retired potsman for Alcoa and was a member of Assumption Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Lillie Koutney Chanek, Ganado; daughters, Frances Cathcart and Mary Lou Chanek, both of Ganado, Dorothy Klanika, Taft, Gladys Hill, Inez, and Patricia Burwell, San Antonio; sons, Frank Chanek Jr., Lee Fred Chanek and Robert Chanek, all of Edna, and John Paul Chanek, Jerry Louis Chanek and Anton James Chanek, all of Ganado; and 18 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Matthew Chanek, Franklin William Cathcart, Michael Chanek, Edwin Cook, Leroy Cook II, and Mario Salinas Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence Cathcart and John Carrasco. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice.
