Cornelius Funeral services for Julia Lydia Chovanec Cornelius, 82, of Markham were held Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Rev. Samuel Appiasi, the Rev. Paul Chovanec and the Rev. Joseph Shannon officiating. Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Cornelius died Jan. 13. Born Aug. 8, 1919, in Hillje to the late Rudolph and Ludmila Shula Chovanec, she was a member of St. Robert’s Catholic Church in Markham and was a resident of Markham since 1950. She was a teacher at El Camp High School prior to her marriage and was a member of the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and the K.J.Z.T. Society. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, William Daniel Cornelius Jr., D.V.M., Markham; son, William Daniel “Bill” Cornelius III, Bay City; daughters, Camille Green, Bay City, and Danette Poux and Danelle Annie Cornelius, both of Markham; sister, Alice Chovanec Tlucek, Edna; three granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sister, Lydia Chovanec; brother, Albert Chovanec; and granddaughters, Lisa and Julie Warn. Pallbearers were Louis Kopnicky Jr., Joe Senkyrik, Leo Chovanec, Josh McCown, George Harrison and Bob Reed. Honorary pallbearer was Voss McCrosky. Memorials may be made to St. Robert’s Catholic Church, Markham, TX. Arrangements were under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.
