Interment followed at Assumption Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Ganado Funeral Home. Mr. Huerta died Dec. 21. Born Sept. 5, 1937, in Monterrey, Mexico, he was a roustabout and a Catholic. Survivors include sons, Faustino Huerta Jr. and Gerald Huerta, both of Louise; step-daughters, Sally Smithwick, Louise, Sandra Estrada, Edinburg, Rita Garza, Paula Tristan, and Cindy Rivera, all of Victoria, Ester Baggett, Palacios, and Mary Jane Salinas, Lolita; step-sons, Donnie Tristan Jr., La Ward, Joe Tristan, Tommy Tristan, Rene Tristan and Adam Tristan, all of Ganado, Steve Tristan, Hillje, and Paul Tristan, Edna; sisters, Johna Huerta and Betha Huerta, both of Monterrey, Mexico; brothers, Benito Huerta and John Huerta, both of Monterrey, Mexico; 43 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Rosales Huerta on Aug. 22, 2001. Pallbearers were Chris Smithwick, Tim Smithwick, Mark Smithwick, Robert Swire, Joseph Swire and Paul Tristan. Honorary pallbearer was Luis Rivera.
