Jones Funeral services for George T. Jones, 96, of Edna were held Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ with the Rev. Harry Williams officiating. Interment followed at Sayles Cemetery under the direction of Cook-Butler Funeral Home of Edna. Mr. Jones died Jan. 4. Born Jan. 8, 1905, in Sweeny to the late Alford and Elizabeth Ball Jones, he was a longshoreman for Maritime International Longshoreman for 30 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He served as deacon at Shiloh Baptist Church and was a member of the Brotherhood and Local #851 Maritime International Assn., Galveston. Survivors include his wife, Stella Mae Jones, Edna; daughter, Ethel Mae Marshall, Corpus Christi; and a son, Collis Jones, Brazoria. He was preceded in death by parents; three sisters; and two brothers. Pallbearers were Don Marshall, the Rev. Claude Prince, Ivan Marshall Jr., Hugh Hines, Bobby Miller and Carl McGee.
