Funeral services for Mercedes Eloise Gann Plant, 86, were held Tuesday, 
July 10, 2001, at Wheeler Funeral Home in El Campo with the Rev. Rick 
DuBrock officiating. Interment followed at Garden of Memories in El 
Campo. 

Mrs. Plant died July 7. Born Feb. 3, 1915, in El Campo, she was a 
homemaker. 

Survivors include daughters, Martha Johnson and Faye Gibson, both of 
El Campo, and Joyce Sykora, Lake Jackson; son, Raphael Leon Plant, Jr.,
 Edna; sisters, Velma Bram, Danevang; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-
grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by parents, William Porter and Martha Jane 
Gann Porter; husband, Raphael Plant Sr.; son, Wallace Plant; daughter, 
Nancy Plant; grandsons, Ronald Johnson and Philip Sykora; granddaughter, 
Brenda Gibson Sosa; great-grandson, Ryan Ermis; and son-in-law, Wallace 
Johnson. 

Pallbearers were Dennis Perrin, Marty Galow, James Darrell Gibson, 
Steven Vickery, Tony Ermis and Tony Svatek. Honorary pallbearers were 
Doug Galow, Danny Plant, Tony Ermis, William Gibson, Emil “Jack” Bram, 
Jim Cox, James Wright and Gary Plant.
