Rodgers Private graveside services for Cecil D. Rodgers, 86, of Alton, Ill., formerly of Edna, were held Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at Memory Gardens of Edna with Francis Blanchard officiating. Mr. Rodgers died Aug. 12. Born May 18, 1915, in Edna to the late Ben and Nannie Brough Rodgers, he was a pipefitter by trade and was a member of Whitelaw Baptist Church. He and his wife of 61 years, Aura “Marie” Remedios Rodgers of Alton, Ill. were married Oct. 28, 1939, in Shanghai, China. Survivors in addition to his wife, are daughters, Pat Gregory, Bethalto, Ill. and Linda Yarborough, East Alton, Ill.; sons, Doug Rodgers, Lompoc, Calif., Barrett Rodgers, Naples, Fla. Don Rodgers, Clinton, Ill., Cecil Rodgers II, Panama City, Fla., and Mike Rodgers, Washington, D.C.; 25 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to Whitelaw Baptist Church, Wood River, Ill., or Rosewood Care Center, Alton, Ill.
