Schwarz Irma Wilhemine Ohlendorf Schwarz passed from this life on Dec. 17, 2001, at the age of 96 years, at Southbrooke Manor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Edna, Texas. Irma was born Oct. 3, 1905, the daughter of the late Albert and Anna Ohlendorf and sister of Ernest Ohlendorf, Kurt Ohlendorf, Max Ohlendorf, Werner Ohlendorf, Emmie Ohlendorf, twin sister, Ellie Ohlendorf; and sister, Helen Dietert. Surviving Irma is her sister, Helen Dietert of Comfort, Texas; 12 of her 13 nieces and nephews; 28 great-nieces and great-nephews; 21 great-great nieces and great-great- nephews; and many dear friends in the Edna, Victoria and Lockhart areas, across the State and in Germany. Having completed nursing training at the State Tuberculosis Sanitarium School of Nursing near San Angelo, Texas, Irma graduated as a Tuberculosis Nurse May 1, 1942, and on March 15, 1950, became Registered Tuberculosis Nurse No. 56 in the State of Texas. She remained a lifelong member of the Texas Graduate Tuberculosis Nurses Association. On March 12, 1945, Irma married Walter Schwarz in Lockhart, Texas, and they farmed and ranched on their home place near Edna for 29 years, until Walter’s death in 1974. Irma continued to be an active member of the community, of the Ladies Auxiliary Number 8556 of the VFW; and of her church, Emmanuel Lutheran church of Inez. Her infectious sense of humor, generous spirit and love of life were great inspirations to her family and friends and Irma will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be conducted by Oaklawn Funeral Home of Edna on Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Victoria under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Inez, Texas. (Paid for by family.)
