Mr. Sprung died Friday, July 27 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in Brooklyn on Jan. 16, 1915, and moved to Wharton at an early age where he graduated from high school before moving to Edna. In Edna he became a successful and a highly respected Minimax grocer. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Houston to be near their children, but continued to own and maintain a 100-acre ranch outside of Edna where they spent many weekends. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rae Sprung; sons, Marty Sprung, Alan Sprung and Warren Sprung; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family requests that all donations be made to Seven Acres, 6200 N. Braeswood, Houston, Texas 77074; or to the charity of donor’s choice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- BY ANITA CAVAZOS Copyright © 2001 Jackson County Herald-Tribune.
