John Zarate 

Funeral services for John Zarate, 67, of Ganado were held Tuesday, Jan. 15, 
2002, at Assumption Catholic Church of Ganado with the Rev. Joseph Hybner 
officiating. Interment followed at Assumption Catholic Cemetery under the 
direction of Ganado Funeral Home. 

Mr. Zarate died Jan. 12. Born June 28, 1934, in Sinton to the late A.G. and Antonia 
Zarate, he was a retired rancher for Dr. Sam Williams and was a member of 
Assumption Catholic Church of Ganado. 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Perez Zarate of Ganado, whom he married 
July 13, 1955, in Edna; sons, Joe Ray Zarate, Pearland, Ruben Zarate, Port Lavaca, 
and Henry Zarate, Blessing; step-sisters, Antonia Euribe, El Campo, Agnes Garcia, 
Palacios, Micaela Olivarez, Desota, and Veronica Lachey, Tempe, Ariz.; brothers, 
A.G. Zarate Jr., Victoria, and Trino Zarate, Philipe Zarate and Marshall Zarate, 
all of Edna; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. 

He was preceded in death by parents; sisters Mary Cuellar, Cuka Mendez and 
Angelita Padron; and brothers, Ralph Mendez, Salvador Zarate, Adelaido Zarate 
and Manuel Zarate Sr. 

Pallbearers were Joe Ray Zarate, Ruben Zarate, Henry Zarate, Justin Zarate, Derek Zarate and Joe Ray Zarate II.
