OBITUARY.

HENDERSON. - At Jasper, Texas, May 4th, 1880, Eva V. Henderson, daughter of Rev. 
J. F. Henderson and Virginia Henderson, born August 2nd 1874, in Conway county, 
Arkansas, was summoned to her last resting place. "pale death knocks alike at 
the cottages of the poor and the palaces of the great," and is a solemn event 
with whichall are familiar; there is not a day that does not furnish us examples 
of it; and while it is said that, "in the midst of life we are in death," it may 
be added, as we see it verified in the death of little Eva, that upon the very 
threshold of life we are exposed to the king of terror. She was of the "pure in 
heart," remarkably devout and happy; always joining in prayers and praises with 
Christian worshipers.

When death nips a tender bud, and encircles in his icy arms and infant born; 
hushes the innocent pra [ink smudge] closes the sparkling [ink smudge] vers the 
tender ties of [ink smudge] which tend to make life [ink smudge] desirable, it 
overwhelms us with solemn fears and reflections, for which there is but one 
solace left us; that however, brings peace indescribable.

Hear Him, who spake as never man spake; "Suffer little children to come unto me, 
and forbid them not, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven."

The Saviour [sic] has taken Eva to himself.

I take these little lambs, said he,
And lay them in my breast;
Protection they shall find in me,
In me be ever blessed.

Thou wert too beautiful for earth;
And could we bid thee stay,
Whilst angels in the Father land,
Were calling thee away.

Away from sorrow care and sin,
Up to a house of joy and love;
Relieved from pain and suffering,
Sweet Eva waits for us above.
