Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. Mr. POULAND died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at his residence. He was born February 22, 1922, in Zavalla to The late Winford Elmore and Maude Miller POULAND. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart. He was self-employed in the Construction business and owned Fuller Springs Skateway. He was a commissioner in Precinct No. 1. a member of Lufkin Missionary Baptist Church and a Mason for many years. He was preceded in death by brother, Amos Elton POULAND. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Estill Stringer POULAND, Lufkin; son, Carlton Ray POULAND, Lufkin; daughter, Jeannie Raye POULAND Wiggins, Henderson; brother, William Floyd POULAND, Huntington; sisters, Sybil Irene POULAND Harvey, Broaddus, and Jerald Maudine POULAND Frisby, Lufkin; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Calvin B. POULAND, Chris Adams, Jesus Aguilar, Raymond Smith, Ricky Clark and Nathan Cayton. Honorary pallbearer is Emmett Snyder. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2004 at the funeral home.
