Rucker, deceased The Frontier News Weatherford, Parker county, Texas Volume 1 August 19, 1858 To the Sheriff of Johnson County Greeting Whereas Andrew J. Rucker, administrator of estate of M.L. Rucker, deceased, did on the 11th day of June 1858 file his petition in the District Court of Johnson County setting forth in substance, as follows, to wit: That one William L. Mitchell, made and entered into contract with Elizabeth Crockett, widow and relic of David Crockett, decÕd, R.P. Crockett, Matilda Crockett, George Patten and his wife, Rhoda Ann Patten, J.M. Holford and his wife, Rebecca E. Holford, children and heirs of the said David Crockett, decÕd. Said William L. Mitchell agreed to locate Bounty land, Warrant No. 1295, issued by the Secretary of Army to the heirs of said Crockett decÕd, 1280 acres of land upon good vacant land in the State of Texas, in consideration for which said Mitchell was to have and receive a locative interest of half &c. Said Mitchell did locate said Warrant in the county of Johnson and said Mitchell sold and conveyed for a valuable consideration 280 acres of said land to M.L. Rucker. On the 27th day July 1857, said heirs of Crockett, decÕd. executed and delivered to said M.L. Rucker, decÕd., their title, now on file. C.C. Alexander, C.C. Johnson Co. By G.H. Maxcy, Deputy
