All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm **************************************************************************** The Western Enterprise Anson, Jones County, Texas Thursday, August 24, 1933 Drouth Forced Early Rancher to be A Ginner Isaac Hudson, born 7 February 1854 was a native of Alabama and came to Texas in 1859. He moved to Grayson County in 1870, where he remained until 1882 during which included Jones and Taylor Counties. In 1884 he located in Jones county bringing a bunch of cattle from Grayson County. He took up two sections of land three miles south of Anson in 1884. Isaac Hudson ranched here until 1890, when he sold his ranch to the Womacks, and bought 160 acres immediately west of the townsite, now owned by W.H. Haynes, where he erected in 1891 the second gin in Anson, at least the third one from point of time for Jones County. Later he bought the other gin, owned by the Fosters; and erected by Martin Duval and T.J. Martin, selling both to the Swenson interests, but operating them until his death. The gin on his home place was destroyed by fire in 1899 but was immediately rebuilt. It is said that this gin put out 6280 bales one season, being kept busy until the spring, and the other gin about 1800 bales. Isaac Hudson and Miss Anna J.
