Trustees are Messrs. F.B. Reid, H.L. Hagor, and J.M. Mickler. The teachers are Mr. E.L. Hinson, Misses Edith Ramsey, Autie McCuistian and Thelma Thorp. It would be impossible to tell who the first settler in New Hope district was, but the first residence was erected about 1882 followed by several others in 1883. The first school building was a small box house built and paid for by public subscription at a cost of about $200.00. The first school was taught by a Miss Frankie M. Boals, this being a three months term with an enrollment of some 10 pupils. This building which was located near the center of the west line of section No. 13 D & D Asylum land, was used for all public meetings until destroyed by fire of unknown origin in 1889. The location was then moved one mile east on section No. 12 and a frame building 20 x 30 feet erected by public subscription. This building being used for church and public gatherings until 1895 when a Baptist church was erected on the present church site. The school building was moved in 1900 to its present location on the southwest corner of section 12. In 1908 this building was sold and a building 30 x 52 feet, with hall above, was erected, being built by subscription plus a bond issue of $1,000.00. This building was used until 1922 when it was torn down and the present building erected at a cost of $4,000.00. The old Spring Creek District No. 12 building by agreement between Avoca and New Hope was discontinued in 1925 Ñ this building lay within New Hope Territory. In 1903 D.H. Bass erected a small residence using the front of a small stock of groceries. This has been owned by several different people and enlarged until the present building carrying a general stock of merchandise. In 1924, the first church building was torn down and a modern church erected at a cost of $5,000.00. New Hope has won its share of agricultural and poultry premiums in competition with other Jones and Haskell county districts. Winning second place in community exhibits at the Stamford Fair in 1925, losing first place to Post in Haskell county, which community had been placing exhibits for several years. New Hope had winners in the Whirl Wind poultry exhibit of 1927. The County Agent expects some good boysÕ club work from this district during 1927. By W.F. Bean, Citizen of New Hope School District
