The first school house was built in 1903, which was only a one-room building, taught by only one teacher. The community was very thinly settled and only a small number of pupils were enrolled. Then more people from the east and south came and settled in one of the best places in the west. A fine brick school building was erected in1917, a two-teacher school with about 100 pupils enrolled. A small school known as ÒJoe BailyÓ was consolidated with Plainview about five years ago and that added to the enrollment of Plainview school. Some of the oldest settlers in this community are W.T. Overby, C.H. Miller, A.W. Hanson, W.M. Medlin, T.A. Coleman and J.V. Frizell. Some of the old settlers have moved off and new ones moved in. The school house has also been used for a Methodist church for quite a while.
