Edna Moore Some 25 years ago, Spring Creek had a fine little school house, church and a large tabernacle, which stood near the cemetery. there was a protracted meeting held at the church every year and people from far and near attended it. Some time ago the church house was torn down and moved away. Then the school house was moved. It was moved on the corner of Mr. Jake MuehlsteinÕs place. The school progressed nicely from the noon. All the pupils enjoyed going to school at Spring Creek for there was always a good teacher. It was just a one teacher school, but was carried on as nicely as any school could be carried on. The teacher and the patrons always cooperated and in that way the school was carried on nicely. In 1924 the little school house was moved again. It was consolidated and was divided between New Hope and Avoca. The community is just about equally divided between the above mentioned places. Part of this community is in the New Hope district and part in the Avoca district. The school house was auctioned off, and was bought by Dr. Southward. He built it to the house on his place which was nearby. The land where the school house stood was bought by Mr. Jake Muehlstein. One of the advantages of this community is that there has ____ been put and is being put into cultivation than ever before. There is one citizen in this community who has been here for 30 years, and he says that the community has become very thickly settled since he came here. He has been here and seen all the places progress and grow. He saw Stamford grow up. When he came to this community horse and buggy were in fashion. Spring Creek has about the oldest cemetery in Jones county. It is a large cemetery and is well-kept. Some of the world war veterans were buried at Spring Creek.
